Reverend Mary E. Korden the only daughter of the late William “Pete” and Leola (Pratt) Turner was born and spent her early years in Glassboro and Williamstown, NJ. The family later moved to Camden where she graduated from Camden High School; she then obtained an AS Degree from Camden County College and a BA degree from Rowan University in Early Childhood Education.  She received her Master of Education and Early Childhood Education from the University Of Phoenix 2009.   

 

Reverend Korden encountered Christ at an early age and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church, Camden, NJ under the leadership of Rev. McClendon in 1978. She joined St. John Baptist Church in 1995 and completely gave her life to Christ. March 28, 2008, she was licensed to be an Evangelist. May 26, 2013, she and four of the other female associates became Reverends, the first time in the history of Bethany Association for five females to be ordained.

She is one of the associate reverends to the Rev. Dr. Silas M. Townsend, Chairperson for Youth Council, advisor/leader to Sisters of Christ, and a member of the Missionaries.

 

Rev. Korden loves the Lord and considers herself a “Handmaiden to Christ.” She has given her life over to Christ and is not looking back, but “pressing forward toward the mark of the prize of the high calling.” She is truly living a sent and committed life.

Evangelist Korden is the wife of Dolo Lee Korden and the mother of Dana, Iris, Susuanah, Chaz, Rita, Jennifer, and Paula. Mom-Mom to her fourteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

 

Her favorite verse is Psalm 37:4, “Delight thyself also in the Lord, and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
